More people giving up cable and satellite

I would have no problem giving up cable or satellite tv!  It is a rip off and complete waste of money.  Of the 100's of channels, most are repeats or re-runs and the rest is just plain SHIT!

I am glad to hear it is not only me who is fed up with this crap.

Trump Wanabee!

I am not a fan of big ego's and that is why I rarely watch TV!  I never watch CBC and in my opinion, the government should have shelved this albatross decades ago and saved taxpayers $$$billions!  Here is a link to an article featured in the Globe & Mail today.  You can draw your own conclusion.

JFYI, I am not a fan of Donald Trump or the turkey featured in this not so flattering article.  Both appear to be legends in their own minds with ego's the size of Manhattan!

How Superficial We Have Become

9/22/2012

It is truly sad to see how superficial & vain we have become as a society.  Teenage girls getting boob jobs with parents blessings and their credit card number.  Keeping up with the Jones' and their celebrity lifestyles.  Does anybody really care about Paris Hilton or the Kardashians?  It appears the fixation the media has with celebrities have a strangle hold on us, leaving us to believe that this the way life is supposed to be lived.  Tiny waste lines, fake boobs, muscular physique, palatial homes with a Porsche on the driveway, this is not reality, it is unreality!

This sad materialism was confirmed yesterday while Leslie was watching one of her favourite reality shows, Say Yes To The Dress. The episode featured spoiled, selfish women, young and old, spending outrageous amounts of money on a wedding dress.  With some of the emotions shown on the show, you would think a family member just died!  Yesterday took the cake and almost made me PUKE!  A mother put a limit on her daughter's budget of $100,000.00 for her wedding dress.  THAT'S RIGHT ....$$$ ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS for a wedding dress!  If this does not border insanity, I don't know what does.  Personally, I find it extremely offensive when you consider the vast majority of the population is having trouble paying the mortgage and putting food on the table!!

We live in a world of social climbers with millions playing the roll and leveraging themselves to the eyeballs just to be COOL!.

TVIS....TV IS SHIT!

I don't think I am alone in my opinion, but TVIS!  It is my hope and belief that network television will be nothing more than a bad dream in the near distant future.  Shows like Dog, Bachelor, Bachelor Pad (or should I say Bachelor "Patch", where everyone is showing their patch!"), Teen Mom, Celebrity Apprentice, Big Brother, Toddlers & Tiaras, Swamp People...IS THIS FOR REAL???  To think I pay amost $100 a month to watch this crap!!  The cable companies force you to purchase "bundled" programming, most of which you will never watch.  They tier programming offering "Basic Cable" gives you "ABSOLUTE SHIT", Tier One "PRETTY MUCH SHIT" and Tier Two "PREMIUM SHIT"!!  There are almost 1000 channels of SHIT, 25 to 50% duplicated on other channels, 20 year old movies I have watched a dozen times, realty garbage, want-a-be TV personalities trying to be funny but seldom informative.  Talk shows like Live With Kelly, The View, Ellen, etc. with little or no substance.  Have you ever been to a Letterman Show?  The worst part about the "free tickets" (because nobody would pay for them) is the pre show brain washing, where they herd you into this auditorium hours before taping, pumping bull shit up your crack, telling you to laugh at everything Dave says, whether you find it funny or not (and believe me, most of it was not funny), make lots of noise, clap & cheer like your going mad and when the "King" presents himself on stage and continue to laugh at everyone of his comments and corny jokes.  What a sham and to think they are paying this guy 10's of $$$millions.  I am sure the same bogus garbage holds true for most of these shows.

Well I for one am sick of it, paying premium dollar and not being able to chose what I want to watch.  If I pay for TV, I want to chose what I want to watch, commercial free.  I cannot wait for the day when everything you ever wanted to watch can be watched on my flat screen through via the internet.  When cable companies and network television are ancient history.  I turned off my car radio almost 3 years ago, preferring the peace and quiet over the radio personality that is trying to be funny or tell me about his recent experiences.  I really don't give a dam!  Who knows, maybe our TV will become a yard ornament if we do not have a viable option that provides true entertainment for all.

We have become a society that idolizes celebrities, why, I don't know.  Most of them have been married multiple times, drug addiction, issues with the law, and these are the people we emulate?  Not me!  I really could give a crap and wouldn't walk across the street to greet most of them.  There are millions of talented people out there I would prefer to watch.  Hopefully the www. will soon give us that option before I have to turn off my TV for good!  How shallow, materialistic & brain dead have we become as a society.
