ARE YOU SURPRISED?  I guess the statistic should not be too alarming when you consider a number of things, the transient population, limited job opportunities, affluent demographic, recent gang expansion and on and on.  The bigger question is how to deal with this growing problem?  It appears we have had the distinction of being in the top 10 crime ridden cities for quite some time yet we cannot seem to get a handle on the root of the problem.  Lax Canadian Crime Laws are certainly a major contributor.

I knew it was only a matter of time.  They completed the the newly constructed boardwalk along the west shores of Okanagan Lake just in time for the July 1, 2013 long weekend.  By July 15, segments of the beautiful retaining walls and one of the benches were tagged with graffiti.  Not sure about you, but I like the laws of Singapore, where disrespectful, deviant jerks are caned for acts like this.  I am sure that would be a deterrent for some of these brainless deadbeats!
