Australian Zoo

When are we going to learn???  I hate tourist traps and apparently that is what the Australian Zoo has become.  $60 each gets you in the gate and they continue to gouge you from there.  We took their bus to the zoo which used to be included as part of the gate fee but recently they decided to include a $5 pp fee adding to the all the other nickle and dime fees.  Their beautiful bus picked us up at 9:20 am and returned us to the same location at 4 pm.  It proved to be a VERY long day given the limited attractions.  They do have some amazing creatures but I am more impressed with the Calgary Zoo at a fraction of the price.  To add insult to injury, we stopped for an overpriced lunch, two $5 fountain sodas, plus a 1.75% surcharge for paying with credit card, just to drive the nail in a little further!  I REALLY HATE TOURIST TRAPS!!  The best things we have seen on this trip have been free and that applies to most of our adventures.

To put a positive spin on the experience, they do have some amazing creatures, giraffes, elephants, tigers, cheetah, snakes, crocodiles and some pretty intelligent birds.  The facilities are spotless and well manned but the crowds were pretty thin.  Lower your prices and maybe the crowds will re-appear.  Right now, all I am seeing is a big empty parking lot and plenty of empty seats at the varous performances.

I have always been a straight shooter and a go getter.  Many have said Leslie must be a saint to have put up with me for over 40 years.  We have been business partners since the day we got married and each played an intrigal roll in our business success.  There is nothing more important to us than our Family & Friends.  Our love of people and travel has allowed us to develop amazing friendships around the world.
