Sorry for the delay in getting these posts out but this trip involves a lot of work. We never realized how dependent we have become on our vehicles. Although the bus system in Ecuador is very good, it involves a lot of work trying to schedule our next destination, especially when it comes to crossing borders.
The bus trip from Banos to Cuenca was breath taking. The passengers are a mix of 80% locals and 20% tourists. We arrived in Cuenca about 4:45 pm Friday evening and took a cab to our hotel. I must commend Hotel Hass on their outstanding service. The rooms are well appointed, the staff goes well beyond the call of duty to attend to your every wish and the place even offered to due our 40 lbs of laundry for FREE! Now that's service.
Today we took a 3 hour tour of Cajas National Park. I don't think I would rush back based on what we saw but for a $38 taxi tour it didn't break the bank. Tomorrow we are headed to Mancora, Peru to spend 4 days on the beach. We take an overnight bus to Peru which should be interesting. I think I will be sleeping with one eye open making sure we get off the bus with what we came with. We have heard various reports of theft and pick pocketing and no doubt, this may be a prime opportunity.
