Left Bordeaux at the crack of dawn and headed to St. Emilion. The historic village is beautiful and we ended up spending a few hours walking the streets and taking in the sites. Some of the finest wines in France are produced in this region. We left for Arcachon and booked a lovely little B&B in the village of la Teste de buch. The home is owned by Daniel, his wife Martine and their son Fabien. This is what I love about Europe...the way they make you feel that their home is yours. Both Daniel & Fabien are police officers, Daniel recently retired. Fabion works in Paris. We met them only hours ago but seems like we have known them for years. Fabian speaks English so he came in very handy with the language barrier. We found our tablet to be an excellent translator tool as well. On our way here, we stopped at the world famous Dune de Pyla just outside of Arcachon. The dunes had to be at least 200-300 feet high. We hiked to the top and sand skied to the bottom...GREAT FUN! Another fantastic day in paradise.
