Yesterday we went on a lengthy bike ride along the beach and the surrounding village of Bibinje. The one thing we have noticed since our arrival in Croatia is people are not very engaging. Typically you go for a bike ride or walk, you would greet people with good morning/afteroon, how are ya, etc. Here, not so much, although Ray indicates Croations are very friendly! We find staff at retailers in Croatia much the same, not very pleasant or helpful and basically rude. They could certainly learn from our Croatian/Australian hosts who are fantastic, very friendly, helpful and accommodating. Both Nives & Ray spent most of their lives in Australia so maybe that has something to do with it. Last night we had a knock at our door with Ray surprising us with a bottle of local red wine just in time for dinner.
During our bike ride, we noticed a lot of what appeared to be abandoned houses or houses half completed. It is hard to tell around here. One thing for certain, there is a lot of poverty bordering 3rd world. Had another great afternoon at the beach but had to leave after a couple of hours it was so hot. Not complaining!!
